Scholarship Overview

The National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. (NABA) – Atlanta Chapter will host the Accounting Career Awareness Program (“ACAP”) in Summer 2021. This free one-week  program gives high school students the unique opportunity to gain more exposure to the Accounting industry and its limitless opportunities. Due to COVID-19, this in-person program is contingent upon social distancing guidelines, which may result in transitioning to a virtual program.

  • Interactive campus residency for students to learn more about the collegiate experience.
  • Collaborative visits of Atlanta’s top Fortune 500 companies to network with Accounting and Finance professionals.
  • College tours in partnership with Atlanta's highest rated colleges and universities.
  • Work with other high school students in a business case study competition.
  • Opportunity to earn college scholarships.
Requirements

An eligible applicant must be/have:

Application and Selection Process

Students who are current sophomore, junior or seniors in high school with at least a 3.0 grade point average, may complete an application for ACAP. The completed application package includes:

  • The application
  • A current academic transcript – emailed to acap@nabaatlanta.org
  • Two letters of recommendation — letters may be submitted by anyone who knows you well and is able to attest to your character, leadership ability, commitment to community service, or academic achievement. This may include someone such as an employer, coach, high school guidance counselor, teacher, principal or mentor. It cannot be your mother, father or guardian
  • A brief written statement of interest

Students must complete the entire application package to be considered for ACAP. Incomplete applications will not be considered. There will be no follow-up communication to request information not received by the application deadline.

Select applicants will be invited to a virtual interview on a date and time chosen by the ACAP Committee. The tentative interviews will be held in April 2021.

Notifications, including interview details and rejections, will be communicated via email. Please confirm the email addresses provided in the application are accurate. Failure to respond to email correspondence within the requested timeframes will be considered forfeiture of interview time.

If selected to participate in the ACAP, each student and one parent/guardian must attend a virtual orientation tentatively scheduled by the ACAP Committee. Students selected for ACAP must also attend the entire program in the Summer 2021 from check-in through awards reception. Additional rules and regulations will be provided to the students chosen to participate in the program.
