Willie Costello

Willie Costello

Senior Technical Manager
AICPA (that's us)
Trumbull, CT

Willie Costello’s father was an accountant, which sparked his own interest in the profession while in high school and pursuing an accounting degree in college.

After graduating from the University of Connecticut, Willie spent 18 years in public accounting. Then he joined the staff at the American Institute of CPAs. When asked why he loves his job, Willie simply answers, “As much as I can, I try to help other CPAs.”

Willie is married, has two daughters and a dog and makes the most out of every opportunity he’s given. And surprisingly, although he doesn’t work in a grey cubicle, he doesn’t mind being stereotyped. “If Ben Gibbard (lead singer of Death Cab for Cutie) and Rivers Cuomo (lead singer if Weezer) can look like a ‘CPA stereotype’ then maybe that's not such a bad thing,” he says.

Afterall, his career choice has allowed him time to spend with his family and give back to his community. Willie is a the Secretary of the Trumbull, CT, Rotary Club for 2011-12 and the treasurer of the Trumbull Diamond Club Inc., a fundraising organization for the Trumbull High School baseball and softball teams. He also helps coach a girl’s travel softball organization.
