President
Mia A. Thomas, P.A.
Winter Park, FL
You could say that Mia Thomas thrives on variety.
She owns her own CPA firm. She's a co-owner for a Mobile Film Production Company. She is the Director of Finance for the National House of Hope, an organization that helps teens. She’s the treasurer for the Hispanic Business Initiative Fund. She teaches Sunday school and volunteers for the PTA. She designs jewelry, plays the piano, and follows her sons to their karate matches and baseball games. (Don’t believe it? You can see her in action on the AICPA’s career video “Start Going Places”.)
And all that is in addition to the variety she has at work. “I work for multiple clients and all types of issues, which keeps my day interesting,” she says.
Mia knew what she was getting into – at a very early age. “I knew I wanted to be a CPA when I shadowed a CPA in the eighth grade,” she says. “And I had three neighbors on our street who were CPAs. Plus, I grew up with a sense of savings and finances, so accounting and finance intrigued me as a career.”
“I chose a profession based something I liked, and now I wake up in the morning and look forward to working as a CPA,” she says. Don’t worry, even if you’re way past eighth grade, there’s still plenty of time.
