Early in Judy Trepeck’s education, her interests leaned to the business world.
It didn’t take her long to realize accounting is the backbone of business. “If you have an accounting education, you can understand any business and always have an interesting career,” she says.
Interesting definitely describes Judy’s career. After spending 29 years in public accounting, she became the COO of an international initiative for the (accounting) profession in New York City. Then the Governor of Michigan gave her a judicial appointment to the states Tax Court.
Now Judy creates programs and marketing materials for the Michigan Association of CPAs, is a consultant for law firms and represents taxpayers before the Michigan Tax Tribunal. “I have dynamic responsibilities that challenge my thinking, creativity and constant development of new ideas,” she says.
Judy meets with national speakers for conferences and business leaders from the community on a daily basis. “Nothing about my responsibilities and client service is boring and my professional skills are constantly challenged,” Judy says.
Judy loves being a CPA; she loves the work and the flexibility to create and exciting career path. “Once you understand accounting, you understand everything that makes the world economy function,” she says. “You will always have an exciting career with the CPA credential in your pocket.”
