Audit Manager
Deloitte and Touche
Dallas, TX
Jason Ray Lundell admits that he first discovered accounting quite by accident. In college, he planned on becoming a lawyer. But he took an accounting course and was hooked. “I quickly discovered I had a knack for numbers and a growing passion for business and economics,” he says.
“I decided to go back to grad school to focus on accounting,” Jason says. “Then I’d get my CPA license and work for a big accounting firm.” You can’t say he’s not a good planner – because that’s exactly what he did.
After spending two years at PricewaterhouseCoopers, he worked for Alcon for nearly four years, a company that makes solutions for people who wear contacts. Now Jason works for Deloitte and Touche, auditing large companies and researching critical accounting issues.
Jason believes accounting is a career path with limitless possibilities. “As the great investor Warren Buffett once said, ‘Accounting is the language of business.’ If you’re willing to understand accounting, it will make you better at whatever you choose to do.”
Jason admits that he had the wrong idea about accountants before he decided to become one. “I always thought they were introverted geeks who loved math equations and tax forms,” he says. “That couldn’t be further from the truth. The people I work with are social, smart, talented and easygoing.”
And Jason’s proud to be one of them.
