What on earth is “pontoon tag”? Google turns up nothing on the subject, but Dave Sawyer, Senior Accountant at SDK in Minneapolis, lists this mysterious pastime as one of his favorite things to do.

Could it be code for “working with everyone from the manufacturing floor to the CEO’s office”? That’s something he does frequently in his position as an audit expert. “I love that every other week or so I get to walk into a new company with a new culture,” he says. Cool, but it still doesn’t seem like that’s pontoon tagging.

In addition to his daily workload, Dave also volunteers every year, assisting students as they get ready to compete in the DECA marketing challenge. But again, that’s probably not pontoon tag.

Really, it could be anything, since Dave himself says he’s up for trying “anything that isn’t illegal.” “I’m a huge fan of experiencing everything life has to offer,” he says. (So far that’s included stuff like skydiving, kayaking, hiking, cycling, snowboarding and – of course – pontoon tag.) But whatever pontoon tag is, there’s a chance that you could do it too if you follow in Dave’s footsteps and earn your CPA credential. It’s a ticket to getting just about anywhere you want to go.

In closing, he offers this advice: “If you want to play a daily version of financial CSI, or manage a Fortune 500 company, a CPA is your ticket to success. If you want to help an organization in its mission to end world hunger, or if you want to run your own business, or meet new people every day, a CPA is the answer you’re after. For a strong skill set, financial freedom, and a strong network of friends, a CPA may be just what you’ve been looking for.”
