President & CEO
Arizona Society of CPAs
Phoenix, AZ
Throughout her 28 years in accounting, Cindie Hubiak's career has had its highs and lows. The highs have included stuff like hiking Camelback Mountain in Arizona, where she's the head of the state society of CPAs. And a "low" for her would be the bottom of the planet – Antarctica, which she recently visited to complete her travel to all seven continents.
So she’s definitely well-rounded. She's been on international assignments, held the title of European Controller in England, been an executive at a plant in Singapore, recently published her first book and now spends her days talking to CFOs from different companies about "what keeps them up at night."
What keeps her up at night? Well, not much. "Daily meditation is one of my favorite ways to be at peace with life," she says. And she's into "deep conversation with friends," which probably also helps with the peace thing. Plus, she volunteers with organizations that help women and the environment.
Can you achieve this inner peace and satisfaction Cindie speaks of, and do stuff like jet off to the Galapagos Islands, as she plans to? Sure, if you take a hint.
That's what she did – when Cindie was working part-time in high school, the company's auditor encouraged her to major in accounting instead of general business. "He said the career options were fabulous," she remembers. "And that I wouldn't regret it. He was right!”

Hobbies outside of work: International travel, hiking, learning, writing books, fun conversations
Pets: Hummingbirds – they don't require a lot of time
Words to live by: "Stay present in each moment. "
