Getting Started

When are submissions due? What should be included?
All entries must be received by December 21st at 6:00 p.m. ET and must include your team's signed release forms, TV show proposal, production budget and promo script.

Can I email for fax in my signed release forms?
Electronic scans of release forms may be sent, but hard copy original forms must be received to be qualified for entry. Until original hard copies are received by mail, your entry will not be considered official.

Can I enter on my own?
All participants must be on a team with at least one other student and a Faculty Advisor.

How many students can be on a team?
Teams are made up of 2-4 students. Each participant can only be a member of one team.

Can schools have more than one team participating?
Yes! Schools may have as many teams participating as they want!

Why do teams need a Faculty Advisor?
Faculty Advisors are required to oversee the teams due to the fact that students participating are considered minors under the law and cannot participate on their own.

Can a faculty member advise more than one team?
Yes! Faculty advisors may oversee more than one student team. In fact, we encourage educators to get their entire class involved.

What are the prizes?
First place: $4,000 team scholarship / $3,000 grant for your school
Second place: $3,000 team scholarship / $2,000 grant for your school
Third place: $2,000 team scholarship / $1,000 grant for your school

All scholarships and grants awarded are in USD.

How are the scholarship awards divided?
Each team member will receive an equal share of the scholarship award — for example if there are two team members on the first place team they will each receive $2,000 of the $4,000 scholarship.

Submitting Your Entry

Are there any file restrictions or preferred formats?
Entries may be submitted in Word document, Excel file and PDF formats.

Should we submit each portion of the entry separately (i.e. budget, proposal, etc.) or together in one document?
The entry form will prompt you to submit each portion of the entry as a separate file.

Can teams enter at any time?
You may submit your team's entry at any time during the competition entry stage up until 6:00 p.m. ET December 21, 2012.

What should the pretend “budget” include?
To find out more about what costs are included in the making of a TV show, we encourage you to do some online research. Examples include wardrobe, crew payroll, rentals, set construction, script writers.

How do we send in our submission?
Entries are uploaded to StartHereGoPlaces.com from the Project Innovation entry form.

What’s the next step after we submit our proposal, script and budget?
Sit back (try to relax) and wait to find out if your team is one of the ten finalists!

When will we find out if we are finalists?
The top ten finalists’ faculty advisors will be notified by 3:00 p.m. ET on January 16, 2013.

What do we do if we have questions not answered here?
Always feel free to send an email to startheregoplaces@aicpa.org and we’ll answer your questions as quickly as possible.
