Project Innovation: The Checklist

Oct 15: Competition Premiere! 

• Read the Official Rules of the competition to make sure you meet all the eligibility requirements (age, citizenship, eligible states/countries etc.).
• Become a registered user of StartHereGoPlaces.com 
• Form your team (at least two and no more than four students per team)
• Find an educator to serve as your team’s Faculty Advisor
• Faculty Advisors must be registered on the Start Here, Go Places. Educators’ Portal
• Brainstorm with your team to develop your submission including: your two-page proposal, the production budget, your preview script
• Go to StartHereGoPlaces.com/ProjectInnovation to submit your entry by completing the Online Entry Form

Dec 21: Competition Close! Last day to enter

Students, make sure your team’s entry includes:

• A signed Release Form for every member of your team. If you’re under 18, your parents have to sign it too.
• Your two-page proposal
• Your production budget
• Your preview script

Faculty Advisors, make sure the entry includes:

• The Affidavit of Eligibility (only one required per educator even if advising more than one team)

Jan 16: First Round Finalists Announced and Top 10 Finalist packets with video cameras sent to the Faculty Advisors

Feb 4: Showtime! First Round Finalist video submissions due

Students, make sure the video submission includes:

• A signed Talent Release Form for every student who appears in your video (If you’re under 18, your parents have to sign it,too)
• Completed W-9 Forms
• The Liability/Publicity Release Forms

Faculty Advisors, make sure the entry includes:

• The Liability/Publicity Release Forms
• Complete W-9 Forms

Feb 5-27: Online Public Voting Period

Students, campaign for your video preview! Ask your friends to vote for you!

March 4-5: Competition Finals! Skype Presentations and Final Judging

The top 10 finalists will present live via Skype to our final round judge.

• Mark your calendars with your presentation date and time
• Review the helpful hints document on giving a Skype presentation
• Practice, practice practice

March 18: Winners announced on StartHereGoPlaces.com!
